The Fate of Pervez Musharraf

August 18, 2008

So Pakistan president General Pervez Musharraf is stepping down. More like being fired from his job. Interesting developments in our neighbourhood. Surprisingly I am feeling a little sad for Musharraf. I am not sure why. Perhaps a known devil is better than an unknown one. Perhaps it was his proximity with USA that kept Pakistan and ISI in check. Perhaps lately he seemed to appear as though he might just indeed be interested in peace. Perhaps he just appeared educated and fitted the personality as the president. Perhaps I don’t really believe there will be true democracy in Pakistan anyway in spite of Musharraf stepping down.

What will happen now? Will Pakistan be ruled by mujahideens? Will things get worst, with Kashmir agitation burning in fresh oil of controversies? Can’t do much but just wait and watch…
