Manzilon se behter…

September 3, 2008

Manzilon se behter lagne lage hain ye raste…

Sometimes the journey begins to feel better than the actual destination. I enjoy driving, NOT the city driving but highway driving, exploring new roads. The best part of driving in India (as compared to the US for example) is that you don’t really go by the map. I usually look at the map and identify broad milestones, usually towns and villages. And then off I go not worried about taking the wrong turn. I always find someone who helps me get back on the right road.

Here’s en-route from Ranikhet to Corbett Park. It is a beautiful drive and if you like driving, I highly recommend taking this route.

Not sure what you mean Sania… I don’t remember names of specific villages/towns en route but overall the route from Ranikhet to Corbett Park was extremely beautiful.

So how long did the drive from Ranikhet to Corbett take? Were the roads good? Did you stay inside Corbett?

As you can see, I would like to make a trip there someday!

    Cheers,

It took about 5 hours. I enjoyed the driving, stopping to click photographs and enjoying the view. It could take less time but then it wouldn’t be as much fun :-). The road was absolutely great, quite smooth and hardly any traffic. After you actually enter the reserve forest of Corbett it helps to be driving in a vehicle with higher ground clearance.

You need to be very lucky to get a place to actually stay inside Corbett. The hotels outside alongside the actual Corbett Park are also in the reserve forest area and are quite nice and green. Most hotels have access to the Kosi river and you can see the river from the hotel and walk down the river from the hotel.
