Jealousy

March 5, 2010

I watched Dor, yet again. Absolutely love the movie. There’s a part in the movie where the widow grandmother confesses that she was troubling the young daughter-in-law of the family because she was jealous of her. She was jealous that the daughter-in-law had a loving husband while she had to suffer the pain society had forced upon her for no fault of hers. I have always wondered about the saas-bahu fights, why women make other women’s lives miserable, why there is no empathy between the generations of the same gender? And watching the scene in Dor, it struck me… it’s because they are fucking jealous of each other. That’s all there is to it… Jealousy!!!
